Hightail have shared a simple yet classic cocktail smash recipe that’s fool proof, flexible, and can be done with any spirit. Happy drinking!
Mandarin Basil Smash
- 60ml Gin
- 30ml lemon juice
- 15ml simple syrup (Make your own with a 1:1 ratio of hot water and sugar! Let cool before use.)
- 3-4 segments of mandarin
- 3-4 basil leaves
- In the bottom of a shaker, gently muddle the basil, mandarin, and simple syrup together.
- Add in the gin and lemon juice with lots of ice and shake together (about 10-15 shakes is plenty)
- Pour all contents into your favourite glass and drink up!
Note: Traditionally smashes are not served strained or with a straw, the bits of fruit and herbs are part of the experience, but obviously at home you're the bartender and the drinker- so feel free to mix and strain to you’re liking!
You can easily switch out the gin for another spirit, as well as the fruit and herb to create your own favourite! Just stick to the recipe's ratios and you're good to go.
